One Day in Kuta Lombok: Beaches, Food & Sunset
I thought I came to Kuta Lombok for the beaches.
At least, that’s what I told myself when I booked the trip. I had seen the photos online: white sand, turquoise water, surfers chasing waves, and sunsets that looked almost too perfect to be real.
But somewhere between the morning scooter rides, long afternoons by the sea, conversations with strangers, and late dinners that turned into unforgettable nights, I realized that the beaches weren’t the reason people kept coming back.
It was the feeling.
This isn’t a guide on where to go or what to do. It’s simply what a day in Kuta Lombok felt like.
8:00 AM — Good Morning!
The first thing I noticed about Kuta Lombok was how quiet the mornings were.
There were no honking cars, no rush-hour traffic, and no pressure to be anywhere at a certain time. People seemed to move at their own pace. Some were already out for coffee, while others were walking back from an early surf session.
For the first time in a while, I didn’t feel the need to check my phone every few minutes.
The plan for the day was simple: rent a scooter, explore, and see where the road would take me.
9:00 AM — The Ride to Tanjung Aan
Leaving the town center, the scenery quickly changed.
The streets became quieter, the hills greener, and every turn seemed to reveal another view worth stopping for. With the wind in my face and the coastline appearing in the distance, I started to understand why so many people fall in love with Lombok before they even arrive at the beach.

The beach was exactly how people described it… clear water, soft sand, and enough space to make you forget about everything waiting back home.

Back in Kuta, I wasn’t ready for the night to end.

It’s meeting people you’ll probably never see again but somehow won’t forget.
It’s watching the sunset with strangers who, for a moment, feel like old friends.
It’s ending the night thinking about extending your trip by just one more day.
And maybe that’s the real reason people fall in love with Kuta Lombok.
